At the heart of the ELDAN TOWER are two primary components: the ELDAN Super Chopper and the ELDAN Multi Purpose Rasper. The Super Chopper operates with low speed and high torque, powered by a frequency drive that optimizes energy consumption. This machine also integrates connection points for nitrogen supply and gas suction, ensuring an inert and controlled atmosphere during the shredding process. The Multi Purpose Rasper, on the other hand, features a flywheel that evenly distributes load, enhancing cutting efficiency. Built with wear-resistant steel and equipped with friction clutches for overload protection, the Rasper delivers consistent performance and durability. Additionally, its interchangeable screens allow for flexible production, adapting to varying output requirements.
The ELDAN TOWER is designed to recover a range of valuable materials from lithium-ion batteries, including black mass—a mixture of critical active components like lithium, cobalt, and graphite—along with copper, magnetic metals, and plastics. These outputs are carefully processed to ensure they are ready for further steps like drying and separation, meeting the highest industry standards for material recovery.
Fire prevention and safety first
Safety is a key priority in the ELDAN TOWER’s design, particularly when dealing with the highly flammable components of lithium-ion batteries, such as electrolyte residues. When exposed to Oxygen, these materials can ignite, posing significant risks during recycling. To mitigate this, the ELDAN TOWER utilizes nitrogen to displace oxygen, significantly reducing the risk of combustion or chemical reactions. The system’s closed environment, complete with three main doors and gas-tight construction, further prevents fires or explosions while ensuring a controlled process.
The feeding process within the ELDAN TOWER is both automated and efficient. When the input material is loaded into the system, the main door seals the chamber, creating an airtight environment. Processing occurs inside the TOWER for approximately 45 seconds, after which the next batch is automatically fed into the system. This streamlined operation maximizes throughput and maintains a steady recycling flow.
Central to the TOWER’s functionality is the integration of nitrogen. By injecting nitrogen into the process chamber, the system creates an inert atmosphere that is both safe and stable. A pusher mechanism aids in circulating nitrogen evenly while supporting the feeding process, ensuring optimal conditions throughout the operation.
High capacity
The ELDAN TOWER boasts an impressive capacity, capable of processing up to 4,000 kilograms of input material per hour. Its compact and gas-tight design not only ensures safety but also enhances operational efficiency. The system liberates battery materials into particles smaller than 15 millimeters, including black mass, polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), non-ferrous metals, and magnetic materials. These outputs are prepared for drying and sorting, making them ready for reuse in manufacturing new batteries or other applications.
To complement its recycling system, ELDAN also offers optional drying and sorting equipment, further streamlining the post-processing of recovered materials. This comprehensive approach ensures that every stage of battery recycling meets the highest standards of efficiency and sustainability.
